What is ACUNSA
What does ACUNSA do?
- We actively support the six individual Student Associations to ensure that each campus has a vibrant and quality Student Life.
- We work on a national level to ensure that you have a voice on issues that affect students on a national level. In addition, ACUNSA works tirelessly to ensure that at all levels of the University, there is a student voice advocating for all students.
- ACUNSA works closely with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Students, Learning & Teaching) and the Executive Manager of the Office of Student Success in continuing to improve Student Services and Support.
- Each year, ACUNSA drives a number of projects that improve student life and satisfaction.
- Each year ACUNSA organises a national event - in the past these have included: The Big Event, ACU Alive and ACU National Games.
- ACUNSA meets reguarly - four times a year face-to-face and every fortnight by tele-conferences - to discuss issues of concern to students and to organise and manage the variety of activities and services that we offer.
What is ACUNSA doing for you in 2009?
- The 2009 Student Diary will be made available free of charge to all ACU National Students. First years can collect their free copy during Orientation Week and the remainder will be available to continuing students from Week 1 of the Semester. Presentation of Student ID is required upon collection of the 2009 Student Diary.
- ACUNSA has launched a website for all ACU National students which will contain current and frequently updated information on ACUNSA, the six Campus Student Associations and Clubs & Societies.
- ACUNSA is supporting all six local Campus Student Associations as they seek to improve student life on each of the campuses, while also pushing for reforms to ensure that the associations remain financially sustainable and accountable to their members, to students and to the university community.
- ACUNSA is supporting (and also pushing the University for support) all potential, new or existing Clubs & Societies.
- ACUNSA is representing and advocating for all students on all national university committees and boards.
- ACUNSA is lobbying Local, State and Federal government for amendments to VSU Legislation, and greater financial and welfare support for full and part-time, Local and International, University students.
- ACUNSA is working with all students and the University to bridge the gap between Local and International Students, and to work on improving the student poverty crisis that affects Australian university students.
- ACUNSA is organising and hosting the 2009 national event to be held in September - ACU National to the Red Centre. A chance for ACU National students to experience one of Australia's great wonders, and immerse themselves in Indigenous Australian culture.
This is just the start of what we hope to achieve in 2009. This year is an exciting year to be at Australian Catholic University. The management of the university is currently in the midst of a restructure which will in turn see greater support for students of ACU National. ACUNSA is working tirelessly to ensure that students remain at the forefront of the university community and that student life on a local and national level is vastly improved and enhanced. We look forward to working with you and for you, and wish you all the best for the 2009 academic year and beyond.
